Senatorial candidate Loren Legarda has kept mum following the viral ‘open letter’ in which she was disowned by her own son, Lorenzo Leviste, for running under Bongbong Marcos’ Uniteam.
However, one of her fellow senatoriables, actor Robin Padilla, stood up for her by assuring the country will never forsake Loren.
In a speech during their recent campaign sortie in Tagum City, Padilla said he is offering their ‘miting de avance’ to the broadcaster-turned-politician.
“Mga mahal kong kababayan dito sa Tagum, itong gabi pong ito ay nais ko pong ialay sa isang kasama, sa isang senador ng UniTeam na si Senador Ma’am Loren Legarda,” said Robin who was also adopted by the UniTeam as one of their senatorial bets.

“Sapagkat nais ko pong iparating sa inyo, Ma’am Senator, talikuran man kayo ng mga taong malalapit sa inyo, hinding-hindi kayo tatalikuran ng anak ng bayan!” Binoe added. “The sons and daughters of our beloved country will never forsake you!”
‘Loren lost her son forever’
In an open letter published by Rappler, Lorenzo said he is ‘absolutely disgusted’ by his mother’s decision to run for senator on ‘a slate led by a Marcos and a Duterte’ as this means she was ‘endorsing fascists’.
“It sickens me and makes me want to die. I need everyone to know that Loren Legarda lost her son forever because of this,” Lorenzo wrote in a scathing criticism of his mom.

“Paint her bright red with that shame. Don’t let her forget it. In the words of a wise woman: I don’t know her,” he further added.
Lorenzo also expressed his disappointment over Loren defending her decision by saying running on Marcos’ ticket does not make her a fascist, especially that it is coming from a woman who lived through ‘martial law’.

He maintained that the crimes of Marcos and the atrocities of martial law are fact and ‘to push back against these truths is to declare yourself an enemy of justice’.
