Are you a cat lover? Perhaps you also want to rescue and give love to the stray cats you see on the streets but you can’t because you know you can’t feed them or care for them?
Well, 24-year-old Sheena Leigh Cabuyaban is a certified cat lover who has been rescuing stray cats since her grade school.
In an interview with the Philippine Star, she said that it’s her passion to take care of cats.
“Passion ko na po talaga siya since nung bata pa ako,” she disclosed.

“Sinabi ko sa sarili ko na ‘yun nga, kapag may kapabilidad ako na mag-alaga ng maraming cats, pupulutin at aampunin ko silang lahat,” she added.
Sheena has been adopting stray cats since she was in the elementary school. Her family began adopting three cats in 2009. Eventually the number of their adopted cats multiplied. Now she has 52 cats living with her in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
In 2018, Sheena decided to create a Facebook page, ‘CAThography’, for her cats which she didn’t expect would reach many fellow cat lovers. There she introduces her rescues and features them in photos and videos.

Meanwhile, a 75-year-old woman named Claudia from Denmark got in touch with her and they talked about her cats. A few months later, Claudia pledged to donate P2,000 to help with the expenses for her cats after which she became a regular donor. Wow! A pleasant surprise for Shena and her cats!
Later on Sheena shared she was asked by Claudia what her biggest dream was. Sheena then said that as a cat lover, she really wants to have a house for her cats. Amazingly, Claudia granted her dream!
This 2022, she sponsored a cat cabin for Sheena’s 52 cats by donating P250,000. Now the cats have hteir own space to live in and play.

Through social media, there was another generous person who gave help.
Every months, she receives cat food from Julie Angeles; a pet shop owner from Valenzuela.
Sheena is very grateful to the donors who help raise her 52 cats.
She now only spends P5,000 monthly to sustain the other needs of her cats. Sheena said that she wants to encourage the public to take part in the advocacy of adopting stray cats. Sheena said these cats also deserve to have a home, to be taken cared of and to be loved.
Aside fom PhilStar, CNN Philippines also lauded Sheena’s kindness to stray cats. Moreover, this grateful cat lover also shared on the CAThography page snippets of a GMA Network coverage at their place. Something’s brewing!
