SK's timely and relevant 'Linggo ng Kabataan' activities earn praises

Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Poblacion Sumilao Bukidnon earned praises from netizens for initiating timely and significant programs in line with the celebration of “Linggo ng Kabataan.”

SK Poblacion Sumilao Bukidnon shared the activities lined up for the occasion and encouraged residents to participate.

The activities slated are Research Proposal Competition, which aims to encourage the youth to talk about existing problems in their community and suggest ways to solve them; Professional Development Seminar, which was organized for fresh graduates needing career guidance, as well as those scheduled to take licensure exams.

There will also be a Debate Competition wherein teams composed of three speakers each will talk about pressing issues in the country. A Beads Making Seminar was also organized in order to provide livelihood opportunities for out-of-school youth and unemployed parents.

SK Poblacion will also hold awareness seminars for PCOS and HIV/AIDS. Lastly, residents are encouraged to share their talent at their program Sumilao Got Talent.

Netizens lauded SK Poblacion for coming up with relevant activities. One netizen said SK Poblacion is a breath of fresh air for him.

“The lined up activities are truly inspiring endeavors. SK Poblacion Sumilao is a breath of fresh air which elate us knowing there are new breeds of youngsters out there ready to take the challenge in nation-building – making efficient and judicious use of their mandate worthy of emulation,” Doms B. said.

“This initiative is commendable, my salute to all the people making this possible. I hope other barangays or municipalities will follow this kind of activity,” A. Azarcon, meanwhile, said.

Another said that it’s good to see an SK deviating from the usual basketball leagues and beauty pageants.

“Napakahusay po! Tularan, hindi lamang mga pang isports ang pwedeng maging activity sa linggo ng kabataan, hoping na maisip din ng iba. Ang galing po talaga,” another commenter said.
