Content creators apologize over prank deemed offensive to our Muslim brothers

A social media content creator is in hot water over a prank video that was deemed offensive and disrespectful of the Muslims just days after the observation of Eid’l Fitr which is one of Islam’s important holidays.

Vloggers ‘Tukomi’ has posted on You Tube a video titled ‘Maghagis ng Itim na Bag ng Naka pang Arabo” a few days ago wherein a prankster can be seen wearing Arabic clothes throwing a black backpack into the crowd of people before running away with them.

Alarmed by the prank which seemed to portray their religion in a bad light, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) is now preparing to take legal actions against the vloggers.

“We have forwarded the information to the NCMF Bureau of Legal Affairs for the next steps in addressing the issue, particularly in determining the cases that may be filed against these individuals,” said NCMF in a statement.

The NCMF also warned the public to stop sharing and further engagement with the said video as they contemplate on their next step.

Other netizens who watched the video also slammed the content creator for supposedly ‘stereotyping’ Muslims as violent people.
