Nakapagtala ng pagtaas sa COVID reproduction number ang National Capital Region (NCR) bago sumapit ang Pasko, ayon sa OCTA Research.

Sa kaniyang ulat ay sinabi ni OCTA Fellow Dr. Guido David na tumaas sa 0.70 ang reproduction number na naitala noong Disyembre 22 sa NCR. Mas mataas ito kumpara sa naiulat na 0.42 percent reproduction number isang linggo lang ang nakaraan noong Disyembre 15.
Ani Dr. David, ganito rin ang naobserbahan nilang trend noong isang taon kung saan tumaas ang reproduction number bago ang holidays.
“If we compare this with last year, the reproduction number also spiked before the holidays, followed by a dip during the holidays (probably due to many people going to the provinces for the holiday) and then an uptick by the first week of January 2021,” aniya.
“The holiday uptick may explain the increasing reproduction number and positivity rate. On the other hand, a continued increase in the reproduction number during the holidays would indicate a pattern not observed in December 2020.”

Paalala niya, dapat ay patuloy na maging maingat at sumunod sa safety protocols ngayong Kapaskuhan.
“Whatever the case may be, we must continue to be vigilant and practice minimum public health standards as we enjoy the rest of the holidays. People with colds symptoms should be mindful of mingling with other people. Stay safe, everyone!”
Sa pinakabagong ulat ng Department of Health (DOH) noong Disyembre 26, sinabi nilang nakapagtala sila ng 433 bagong kaso ng COVID-19.

“Pinapaalalahanan ang lahat na huwag maging kampante sa banta ng COVID-19. Bagkus, dapat nating ipagpatuloy ang tamang pagsunod sa minimum public health standards at laging magsuot ng face mask na may face shield, mag-physical distancing, at maghugas ng kamay,” pahayag nila.
Ipinaalala rin nila ang kahalagahan ng pagpapabakuna kontra COVID-19.
“Agad din na magpabakuna upang makakuha ng dagdag na proteksyon laban sa COVID-19,” pagtatapos nila.
