Amid the cry of thousands of supporters believing that he deserves a seat in the Senate, senatorial candidate and human rights lawyer Chel Diokno reminded everyone on the true meaning of democracy; honoring the decision of the majority.
On Twitter, Diokno talked about the partial and unofficial poll results, where he placed 19th with 9.8 million votes, as of writing. Despite vowing to continue monitoring the ongoing canvassing, the candidate also recognized the fact that he is currently way too far from getting into the top 12.

“Patuloy tayong magmo-monitor hanggang lahat ng boto ay nabilang at naipaliwanag ang mga iregularidad [We will continue monitoring the results until all votes have been counted and the irregularities are addressed],” he tweeted, as he talked about his current status in the quick count.
“Ngunit sa ngayon, malinaw ang resulta ng Quick Count, at sa isang demokrasya, karapat-dapat na tanggapin ang pasya ng taumbayan [But for now, the results of the Quick Count are clear, and in a democratic country, we must accept the decision of the majority],” he continued.

Diokno also expressed willingness to honor the decision of the majority should he lose the election when the final and official results come out.
“Sa mga nanalo, ibinigay sa inyo ang mandato at kapangyarihan ng gobyerno. Ipinagdarasal ko na ang inyong tagumpay ay tagumpay rin para sa lahat ng Pilipino 9To the elected senators, you will be given the mandate and the power to lead the government. I will pray that your success will be the success of all Filipinos, too],” he said.
He also took time to thank his volunteers and supporters for all their hard work all throughout the campaign period, and promised to continue helping those who are in need of his assistance and expertise no matter what happens in this election.
