“My Senator (heart emoji) is #1 (emojis) we are beyond grateful!!! Pilipinas, maraming maraming salamat.”
The 37-year-old wife of Robin Padilla is on cloud nine as she posted her gratitude to the millions of voters who placed their trust and hope in her husband as a senator in this year’s Halalan 2022.

As of Day 2, Robin remains the top 1 in the senators’ list as per the unofficial vote count and even got the most votes from the overseas absentee voters as per reports.
The Supportive Wife
Mariel posted on May 9 her eagerness to cast her vote.
“I voted!!!! Woke up at 5:15am showered at 5:20… arrived at 5:58. Lined up. Finished voting at 7am!!!! I AM SO PROUD OF YOU @robinhoodpadilla i was so emotional while shading #49 mahal na mahal kita ROBIN PADILLA!!!!” she said in her caption.

On her other posts, she had earlier expressed her gratitude to everyone who voted and supported her husband in his journey towards public service.
“On this day, allow me to thank everyone who showed their support for Robin. Luzon, thank you so much! From motorcades to caravans, nandyan kayo for Robin kaya maraming maraming salamat!” she said to Luzon supporters.
For those in Visayas, she said, “Maraming maraming salamat po sa lahat ng taga-Visayas na sinamahan si Robin sa kampanyang ito. I am very thankful for all the efforts and sacrifices you have given to support Robin.”
For Mindanao supporters, “Hanggang Mindanao, napakaraming sumusuporta kay Robin. Thank you very much Mindanao especially sa mga kapatid na Muslims ni Robin. Representation n’yo po sa senado ang pinaglalaban niya.”

In the morning of May 10, she ecstatically posted how grateful they are. “My Senator (emoji) is #1 (joyful emojis) we are beyond grateful!!! Pilipinas, maraming-maraming salamat.”
The couple had previously shared that they lack in terms of finances and machinery and are only grateful to Robin’s UniTeam friends former senator Jinggoy Estrada and former DPWH Secretary Mark Villar for allowing Robin to join them in the motorcades and campaign sorties.
Robin admits being totally taken by surprise over the vote results; having no idea at all that he would be on the upper part of the list.

In an interview with Jessica Soho, he said he does not believe that popularity as an actor paved the way for him to zoom to the upper part of the list. Rather, he believes that his platform was the focal point why he received such trust in terms of votes. To push for federalism was part of his platform.
“Kapag hindi nagbago yung trend at ako ay nanatili sa pagiging number one, isa lang po ang ibig sabihin non. Ang tao gusto na talaga ng federalism at ‘yan po ang napakalaking hamon sa lahat po ng mga senador na mananalo po magmula sa akin,” he said.
Federalism refers to the mixed or compound mode of government that combines a general government with regional governments in a single political system, dividing the powers between the two.”

“Ang naging number one po dito ay yung kagustuhan ng taumbayan na palitan na po natin ang Saligang Batas, ‘yun po ang aking pinaniniwalaan. Yun po ang gusto ng taong-bayan. Hindi po ako, ang gusto po nila ay yung plataporma na ibigay ang kapangyarihan sa mga lalawigan,” he shared.
The senate frontrunner thanks everyone who supported him; that despite his lack of money and machinery there are people who truly believed in him and trusted him enough.
To note, Robin was also endorsed by members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) as well as some fellow celebrities in showbiz like Aga Muhlach, Piolo Pascual and Gabby Concepcion.
And of course, this husband is ever grateful to his supportive wife Mariel who did everything she could to assist him. “Pa-mine na lang!”
