Incoming Senator Robin Padilla said he will be no longer be accepting movie projects to focus on his newest job as a senator of the republic.
Padilla, who topped the senatorial election last May 9 with more than 26 million votes, was among the 12 senators proclaimed by the Commission on Election (Comelec) on Wednesday night, May 18.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Padilla said his foremost advocacy in the Senate is to push for reforms in the 1987 Constitution.
“Mahalaga sa akin magtrabaho na ako para pagtuunan ang mga reporma sa batas,“ the actor-politician said.
Padilla, known in the local industry as the ‘Bad Boy of Philippine Movies’, has a pending movie project about Marawi with a working title ‘Mistah 2’.

The shooting for the film began in 2018 but was delayed mainly due to the COVID 19 pandemic and several revisions in the story arc.
“Last movie ko na yon. Mananatili na lang yung show ko sa TV. Pero sa showbiz, last ko na ‘yon,” he shared.
However. according to Padilla, filming for the said project will resume soon but assured the public it will be completed before he formally assumes office on June 30.

“Hindi puwedeng ‘di matuloy yon kasi marami nabitin dun, nagkapandemya, nag-umpisa pa kampanya kaya ‘di agad puwedeng gawin. Kailangang gawin yon kasi history natin yon,” the actor explained.
During his proclamation, the action star shared his excitement to finally represent his Muslim brothers in the Upper Chamber which has not seen any elected Muslim senators in the past three decades.

“Ang ating pagkapanalo ay isang simbolo ng pagkakaisa ng mga Muslim at Kristyano. Sa loob ng matagal na panahon, halos umabot ang 30 taon. Walang Muslim na naging senador,” he said in his acceptance speech.
In his campaign sorties, Padilla had been very vocal about his plan to push for the federal parliamentary system of government if elected senator.
