‘Social media influencer’ priest admits getting awestruck by Maine Mendoza during sister's wedding

Netizens found a parish priest’s post so amusing after he shared being ‘awestuck’ by Yaya Dub Maine Mendoza during a wedding.

Rev. Fr. Joseph Fidel Roura, the parish priest of Quasi-Parish of Our Lady of La Salette in Muzon, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan,  shared on social media that he has officiated several weddings, but for the first time he got distracted bythe presence of a maid of honor; no other than the Phenomenal Star who started as Yaya Dub of the AlDub tandem in 2015.

In a humorous post on May 27 he shared, “Napakarami ko nang ikinasal pero ngayon lang ako nadistract sa maid of honor. Iba din kasi talaga ang appeal ni Maine Mendoza.”

“‘Yong pwede namang ‘di na tawagin ang best man at maid of honor dahil nasa harap ko na ‘yong arrhae and rings pero tinawag ko pa rin haha. Para-paraan lang ‘yan,” Fr. Joseph added.

In other words, he got starstruck by Arjo Atayde’s girlfriend, Maine Mendoza, when the latter’s sister – Coleen Mendoza Cruz – got married and she happened to be the Maid of Honor.

He praised ‘Dubsmash Queen’ Maine’s appeal and netizens were quick to tease him that he had probably followed the phenomenal loveteam of AlDub. Comments reached over 1,100 and his post was shared nearly 2K imes.

Fr. Joseph shared some photos of Arjo and Maine plus a screenshot image of Coleen’s message on Instagram.

The bride thanked Fr. Joseph with a heartfelt message on May 25:

“We can’t thank enough our officiating priest, Rev. Fr. Joseph Fidel Roura, for a solemn and tagos-sa-puso ceremony… for honoring our parents and our principal sponsors. It was a heartfelt homily like no other. First sentence pa lang, umiiyak na ako sa harap ng altar. Thank you for calming me and my husband.. Napakasarap sa pakiramdam, comforting and reassuring.”

Rev. Fr. Roura was virtually given recognition in a ceremony as ‘Male Social Media Influencer of the Year’ by the 2020 Catholic Social Media Awards (CSMA) on April 15. His meme quotes are widely shared as these are inspiing and provide online users with thoughts to ponder on.

The well-loved priest accepted the award with cheers; saying via a Facebook post, “Naging posible po ang award na ito dahil po sa inyong walang sawang suporta. Salamat Panginoon! Salamat po sa inyo! Tagumpay po natin ito pare-pareho!”

Meanwhile, he has a YouTube channel “Three Nails and a Crown” where he shares homilies and lessons for those who need to be comforted and enlightened.
