Nakatanggap ng honorary doctorate degree mula sa New York University ang singer-songwriter na si Taylor Swift noong Miyerkules, Mayo 18, at naatasang magbigay ng ‘commencement speech’ sa Class of 2022.
Nakasuot siya ng purple na robe at black mortarboard sa graduation ceremony na ginanap sa Yankee Stadium.
Sa halos 20-minutong speech ay hinimok ng 32 taong gulang na ‘Doctor of Fine Arts’, honoris causa, ang mga mag-aaral na ‘himayin’ ang kanilang mga pagpipilian o choices sa buhay.
Aniya, “Life can be heavy, especially if you try to carry it all at once. Part of growing up and moving into new chapters of your life is about catch and release. What I mean by that is, knowing what things to keep, and what things to release. You can’t carry all things, all grudges, all updates on your ex, all enviable promotions your school bully got at the hedge fund his uncle started. Decide what is yours to hold and let the rest go. Oftentimes the good things in your life are lighter anyway, so there’s more room for them. One toxic relationship can outweigh so many wonderful, simple joys. You get to pick what your life has time and room for. Be discerning.”
“I have some good news: It’s totally up to you. I have some terrifying news: It’s totally up to you,” dagdag pa niya.
Pinuri niya ang mga nagtapos sa pagharap sa hamon ng pag-aaral sa kolehiyo sa panahon ng pandemya. “Never be ashamed of trying – effortlessness is a myth.”
Kabilang ang Grammy winner sa tatlong tumanggap ng honorary degree (honoris causa) mula sa unibersidad.
Pagbabahagi niya, “I never got to have the normal college experience, per se. I went to public high school until tenth grade and finished my education doing homeschool work on the floors of airport terminals.”

Nagtapos si Jillian sa New York University na may double degree sa Matematika at Ekonomiya. Dumalo siya sa commencement ceremony kasama ang kanyang ina, si Vice President Leni Robredo, at mga kapatid na sina Tricia at Aika.
