More than a month after being declared persona non grata in Quezon City, Director Darryl Yap shared a photo of him with Mayor Joy Belmonte.

Yap’s photo with Mayor Belmonte was posted on his Facebook page VinCentiments along with the caption “the seal, the mayor, the director.”
It also showed the premiere night schedule of the film Maid in Malacanang on July 29 at the SM North EDSA in Quezon City.
It can be remembered that Yap and comedienne AiAi Delas were declared persona non grata for a campaign video wherein the actress portrayed the role of “Ligaya Delmonte”; a play on the mayor’s name along with an altered seal of QC.

“The malicious and unscrupulous defacing of the official seal of Quezon City ridiculed and casted dishonor to it, causing insult to the noble representation of the seal,” former councilor Ivy Lagman, author of the resolution, said.
In an interview with SMNI, Yap admitted that although he is not a resident of Quezon City, he will be affected by the resolution because he has friends living there. However, he said that he cannot blame Mayor Belmonte if she felt offended by their video.

“Mayor Joy Belmonte is a friend of Senator Imee Marcos and I’m completely aware of that. And Mayor Joy, way back then, a month ago, was in a race kontra naman kay Sir Mike Defensor. I don’t actually feel any hard feelings or I don’t bear any ill feelings towards Mayor Belmonte because she is entitled to feel offended or feel like inasar siya or nilait siya or anything,” the director said then.
“I have a condo in Mandaluyong and in Taguig pero I have friends in Quezon City. I have clients in Quezon City. So will it affect me? I think so.”
