Sophia Corah was legally blind when she met her boyfriend-turned-husband.
Although she was born with clear vision, when she reached the age of 18, she suddenly woke up unable to see properly.
It was in August 2017 when she was diagnosed with keratoconus; a condition where the shape of the cornea changes.
“What that means is that our corneas are slowly thinning out. Well, I guess for me not so slow. But due to eye pressure, it pushes out the weak parts of your cornea the thinned out parts, and make them bulge instead of circular,” Sophia explained.

She was fighting this disease when she met Christian at Adams State University.
They became close friends and soon got along well.
Many people say that Christian is handsome, but Sophia has no idea what the young man looks like.
“When I first brought my now husband home to my parents, when we first started dating, I still did not have great vision,” she said.

“So my mom ends up meeting him and at the end of the night, she comes up to me and she goes, ‘Sophie, I did not know you brought home Ryan Reynolds!'” she added. (Fyi, Ryan Reynolds is a Canadian-American actor and producer.)
Christian did the research for the surgery that would help Sophia see again. He also focused on fundraising for the surgery that might improve her eye condition.
In August of 2019, two years after they met, the girl was able to see again.
“Oh my gosh! it is like even crisper than before!”

“Seeing Christian for the first time was so overwhelming but after I’d calmed down. I realized what a cutie he was! He was even more handsome than I could have imagined,” Sophia said of her husband.
Christian proposed to Sophia in January 2021 and in the month of June the two got married.
“As soon as I met Sophia, I was drawn to her. She was such a fighter and she’d never use her blindness as an excuse. She would play ping pong with me when she was blind and beat me at pool,” Christian said.
