Honoring her father’s love in time for his 59th birthday, Miel Pangilinan penned a touching message for former senator Kiko Pangilinan; sharing how the latter played out such a “big parental role”, even “taking the role of a mother” at some point.
On Instagram, Miel talked about how hands-on Kiko has been despite his busy schedule, and even finds time to be present in his kids’ school meetings and activities.
“My first vivid memory (like, truly vivid that I can remember) is of you telling me that I was a Virgo just like you. You told me nearly a decade and a half later that you said it so I’d know we had something in common,” she wrote.
“It was that day that I really fully realized just the kind of parent that you are. Always the only dad in our batch parent group chats, always dropping us off at school on our first days, always taking us to go grocery shopping every Sunday, always making time out of your schedule to come and watch us perform something that you could’ve very well just asked for a video of,” she continued.
And while she finds it hard to express her emotions, Miel said she still created the post to make Kiko feel how grateful she is having him.
“Being a Virgo myself, I’m sure you understand that expressing my emotions like this is kind of difficult for me, but I hope you understand just how thankful I am to have you as my father. You’ve played out such a big parental role in our lives, taking the role of mother, too, sometimes, and now it’s our turn to start taking care of you, okay?” she said.
“My siblings and I love you more than words can express. I’ll give you many big hugs today,” she promised; adding that she will drive him around once she gets her license.
