Workplaces are not just a good place for career growth and opportunities. These may also serve as a home for happy moments and even lifelong friendships among co-workers. For a bride from China, her colleagues are some of the most important people in her life and she wanted them to be there on her wedding day.
Sadly, only one of the 70 invited workmates came to witness her tie the knot.
As reported by Chinese news site Sohu, the female employee shared what happened on her wedding day on the workplace forum; saying she was able to inform the attendees ahead of time but only one of them showed up.
“I sent invitations to my colleagues in the company two months before the wedding….I have worked in the company for five years, and one-third of my colleagues have given their gifts,” read the English translation of her post.
The woman got really disappointed as she believes she was able to build a good relationship with her workmates for half a decade. She also mentioned that she wasted at least six tables of banquets and got really humiliated in front of her own family, his relatives, and their friends during her own wedding.
Because of this, the woman decided to resign from her post.
Social media users have different takes on this. Some said that she did the right thing as she will not know who to trust anymore after what they did to her. Some, on the other hand, said she should reflect on her relationship with the people around her.
Meanwhile, a few advised soon-to-be-married couples to invite only the people who truly care for them and that weddings do not need to be an event filled with people as it will always be best to surround yourself with the most genuine souls during this important celebration.
