Nagpiyansa si Senator Risa Hontiveros noong Martes, December 28, para sa reklamong wiretapping na isinampa laban sa kanya ni dating Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre na ngayon ay incumbent Vice Chairman ng National Police Commission.
Naglagak ang senadora ng piyansang P36,000 sa Metropolitan Trial Court kasunod ng paglabas ng arrest order laban sa kanya noong Lunes, December 27, 2021.

Sa kanyang statement, muling iginiit ni Sen. Hontiveros ang panawagang i-dismiss ang kaso dahil sa pagiging “worthless” at “baseless” niyon.
Ikinagulat raw niya kung bakit ang kaso na noon pang 2017 ay biglang umusad ngayon.
Kung mayroon man daw na lumabag sa batas, iyon ay si Aguirre.
“If there is anyone who violated the law, it is Mr. Aguirre along with his men who we caught cooking up a case against me,” wika ng senadora.
Matatandaang kamakailan lang ay isinampa sa korte ng Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office ang reklamo laban sa senadora matapos makitaan ng probable cause sa paglabag sa Republic Act 4200 o ang “Anti-Wiretapping Act.”
“Hontiveros willfully, unlawfully, knowingly and secretly intercept, record, possess a copy of such record, and show or communicate to other persons, the contents of the private communication without the consent of all the parties thereto to their damage and prejudice, ” ayon sa resolusyon na nilagdaan ni Senior Assistant City Prosecutor Serafin Salazar at inaprubahan ni City Prosecutor Elmer Cris Rillo.

Ang kaso sa senadora ay nag-ugat mula sa reklamo na inihain ni dating Kalihim ng Department of Justice na si Vitallano Aguirre II dahil sa diumano ay ibinunyag nito ang pakikipagpalitan niya ng text messages kay dating Congressman Jacinto Paras sa isang Senate hearing noong September 2017.
Sinabi noon ni Sen. Hontiveros sa kanyang privileged speech na nadiskubre niya ang mga text messages sa pamamagitan ng isang litrato ang plano nina Aguirre at Paras na magsampa ng kaso laban sa kanya.
“Why is it my fault that the Filipino people know there is a conspiracy against me? If his text messages were set in fonts large enough to be caught on camera then he has only himself to blame. He should have known better than to conspire with others in the middle og a public event in full view of photographers’ cameras. There was no deception or subterfuge involved.”
