Hinihikayat ni Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Leonor Briones ang mga kabataan mula sa iba’t ibang sektor na mag-apply ng scholarship sa National Academy of Sports (NAS).
“I am urging all the student-athletes from all sectors of the society, including indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and other marginalized groups, to submit an application for the scholarship to improve their craft,” sabi ni Secretary Briones.
“NAS would like to produce world-class athletes that can compete and bring home medals from SEA Games, Asian Games, Olympics, and other sporting events like our very own Hidilyn Diaz,” dagdag pa ng kalihim.
Noong January 12, 2022 ay opisyal nang sinimulan ang pagtanggap ng applications para sa NAS Annual Search for Competent, Exceptional, Notable, and Talented Student-Athlete Scholars (NASCENT SAS) para sa School Year 2022-2023.
Inanunsiyo ng NAS, isang attached agency ng DepEd, na naghahanap ito ng mga academically competent and athletically talented natural-born Filipino youth na karapat-dapat sa scholarship.
“NAS is looking for incoming Grade 7 and 8 learners, natural-born Filipino citizens, who must have a general weighted average of at least 80%, and not be older than 14 years old (incoming Grade 7) and not older than 15 years old (incoming Grade 8) at the start of the school year. Aspiring student-athletes under the NAS focus sports, including aquatics, athletics, badminton, gymnastics, judo, table tennis, taekwondo, and weightlifting, are encouraged to submit their applications,” anunsiyo ng NAS.
Bilang bahagi ng scholarship program, ang mga student-athletes ay makatatanggap ng mga insentibo kabilang ang free tuition, free board and lodging sa NAS Dormitory sa NAS Campus sa New Clark City sa Capas, Tarlac.
Makatatanggap din sila ng de-kalidad na secondary education at access sa specialized sports training sa world-class facilities ng NAS.
Higit pa roon, magkakaroon ang mga student-atlethes ng tsansa na maging kinatawan ng bansa at ng NAS sa mga international competitions at exchange program na may monthly allowance, scholarship para sa anim na taon “subject to the student-athlete’s sports and academic performance.”
Ang application forms at mga requirements ay dapat personal na isumite sa NAS office sa 4th floor, PSC Building A, Philsports Complex Bonifacio Gate, Capt. Henry P. Javier St. Orambo, Pasig City o kaya ay sa pamamagitan ng email sa nascentsas@deped.gov.ph hanggang sa April 12, 2022.
