A video of a local wedding is currently making the rounds online and raising mixed emotions among internet users. Why? The bride has repeatedly refused to be kissed by her beloved husband!
The internet went abuzz over a video clip which shows a newly wed couple at the altar. Apparently, the priest has concluded their holy union and had just told the groom that he may now kiss the bride.
But alas! It sure looks like the bride isn’t ready to be kissed; at least not in front of everyone.
The groom attempts to seal their vow with a kiss many times, but his bride turns her face each time to evade his kiss; demurely covering her lips as she smiles and tries to fight the urge to laugh. Other times she tries to push him away, or steps back to evade the kiss and the groom could only laugh and smile alternately while their guests roar with laughter and repeatedly tells the couple to seal their union with that kiss.
The teasing and ‘kilig’ continues for some time and still that first kiss as husband and wife didn’t materialize.
During the picture-taking by groups, a principal sponsor requested for that kiss again. The bride tries to give in but ends up stifling her laughter while covering her face with her bridal bouquet or her palm. Well, it finally happened though fleetingly and only after a number of tries from the groom. hahaha
During the reception, requests were made again for the newly weds to kiss, especially during the traditional ‘money dance’. Looks like the guests have anticipated the same scenario and they obviously enjoyed the kilig of the occasion.
Many social media pages shared the video and comments overflowed. Many had mixed emotions and thought the bride was playing hard to get, didn’t love her husband or just making a fuss for show. But do note that the bride, from the beginning of the video until the last part was always smiling and never expressed anger or disgust. In fact, she was a radiant bride all throughout and they were obviously in love.
Reading the comments from different pages, it could also be gathered that many believe she’s simply being herself; “mahiyain, probinsiyana, dalagang Pilipina.” She’s just not used to everyone looking at her while she’s being kissed even if she knew beforehand that weddings have those moments. Her husband has taken everything in stride and even seemed to enjoy how his wife is so reserved as she smiles shyly at the guests.
Take note too that the smiling priest who officiated their wedding is the groom’s elder brother; hence, the bride’s brother-in-law, her new kuya. “Nahihiya pa kay Father kuya.”
People close to the bride defended her actions from bashers. Even her makeup artist attested that the bride is truly a very shy person even when she was being prepared for her wedding.
“Hi Everyone tatagalogin ko na para maka intindi yung lahat. Actually hindi nyo lang alam kung ano ang rason bat si Girl nahihiya dyan! Mahiyain po talaga si Bride then actually ako po yung MAKEUP ARTIST NI BRIDE then while nag papa makeup sya nahihiya sya! Soo wag nyo sana e bash sila or si bride dahil hindi nyo naman alam yung katotohanan!!”
“Pag laking probinsya at wala pang experience ganyan talaga nahihiya sila lalo’t nasa harapan ng maraming tao, kasi mga dalaga doon eh kung baga mga virgin pa, at di sila tulad ng mga taga city na daming karanasan or libarated na sila, I mean di naman lahat po. mostly sanay na sila sa mga ganyan, kasi exposed na sila sa mga nangyayari..kaya for me naintindihan ko siya kasi nakikita ko ito actual na pangyayari sa mga kasalan sa probinsya kaya di na bago ito… peace sa lahat…happy lang bawal ang sad, life is too short…”
“This really made my day. Never seen a bride this shy anymore hahahaha dalagang pilipina na nag exist pa after all hahahha. It is wrong na i judge nyo ung girl badly based on your perception on how she is supposed to behave. Realize that iba iba tau ng experiences and life stories and no one should be expected to act the way others want them to act. You may help na ma ease ung discomfort cuz nerbiyos and tensed cya, like what the circle did but to impose is wrong. You do not even know the person para magbigay ng statement na bad about her so please stop, you are disgusting! I am amused na I can see myself in her when I was young …mannerisms of extremely shy people..I think na different ung training nya from birth and maybe gikan jud cya sa province na ung practices iba sa majority and normal now. Admit it or not, we did enjoy watching their memorable moment. This is something they will happily look back at as they journey towards future anniversaries. Their future kids will surely have a great time watching how their parents celebrated that first few kisses as man and wife. They’ll probably tease their Nanay as ‘nagpakipot’ when they get older. 🙂
