The Bukidnon PNP has denied the rumors regarding an alleged ‘zombie attack’ in Valencia City which circulated on social media last weekend.
Valencia police chief investigator Lt. Pablo Jugos Jr. said in an interview that the incident in Barangay Tongantongan last Feburary 17 was actually a commotion between two individuals involved in a fight.

Initial investigation revealed the victim, identified as 30-year-old Anthony Arenas, was inside his house when he heard some shouting and saw a naked man running towards him.
The suspect, Carl Antonio Conilas, 25, reportedly just had an argument with his wife and left their house when he saw Arenas.
Conilas then ran after Arenas who tried to flee but the suspect caught up with him, resulting in a commotion.
In the ensuing fight between the two men, Conilas bit Arenas’ hand to free himself.

According to investigators, the victim claimed that aside from biting his hand, the suspect also supposedly did some ‘weird’ things against him.
“Siguro dala na rin ng takot sinubukan ng biktima na tumakbo ngunit naabutan pa rin siya ng suspek kaya pinatungan siya, kaya nag-struggle dahil dinudukot ang kanyang mata at hinihigop pa ng suspek,” said Lt. Col. Michelle Olaivar, PRO-10 spokesperson.
The PNP believed this was the reason why the incident went viral on social media after netizens assumed it was a ‘zombie attack’.

“Walang zombie. Ang nangyari ay may isang tao na medyo nawalan at the time sa kaniyang tamang kaisipan because sane person don’t do that na bigla na lang nangangagat at hihigupin ang dugo,” Olaivar clarified.
The suspect reportedly had a history of illegal substance use and had just been released from a rehabilitation facility.
