This love month a grateful doctor-turned-pilot husband shared an inspiring story on his Facebook wall which involves his beloved wife and their journey of fourteen years.
The husband, Erwin Conrad Abueva, looked back at their journey as a couple and shared his sentiments via a Facebook post.

Apparently, when he decided to go into Aviation (a completely different world from Medicine), his wife supported him despite knowing that such a move would be extremely financially challenging. At the time, he was already practicing his medical profession but only under a contractual basis in hospitals.
Doc Erwin Conrad said they were just starting to build their home back then with bank mortgage and other loans to pay on strict schedules.
He continued, “We did not want to bother other people for help, including our parents, especially for financial assistance kasi for us, tapos na ang financial responsibility ng mga magulang namin sa amin when we started to have jobs and we got married. Nahihiya kaming manghingi o “umutang” sa magulang. Sabi nga, “Buntot namin, hila namin.” And they share the same principle in life; thank goodness!

Before they knew it, almost three and a half year had passed (Dec 2014 to mid-2018). Doc Erwin Conrad was able to complete his Flying Training although it took him a bit longer due to financial concerns. “Natagalan nang konti dahil installment din sa pagbabayad ng tuition sa Flying School. Iginapang lang talaga namin,” he explained.
Then after the CPL/IR, he decided to take the Airbus 320 training course to increase his chance of being hired by airline companies. But that decision entailed a whopping 33K US dollars which, sadly, they didn’t have.
A Major Decision
His wife, without being forced, agreed to sell their house that time to finance his training. He shared further in his post that half of the money they got from the sale of their house went to his Airbus Training expenses and the other half was allotted to the small business that his wife Meriam manages.
What happens next he described as history. This determined doctor earned his ‘pilot wings’ and immediately got hired after his Airbus 320 training.
He’s so grateful for getting that dream job even before he turned 40!

Captain Doctor Erwin Conrad Abueva has nothing but love and gratitude for his better half; something that we wish all couples would find in their marriage.
He concludes his pre-Valentine’s ‘musing’ with a heartwarming message tinged with a funny ‘hugot’ about money matters.
“Everytime we talk about our journey as husband and wife, how we managed to overcome obstacles especially the finances, we can’t help but to feel very grateful to our family and friends, most to our God Almighty! God provides and we are continuously experiencing it!!! We are blessed, no doubt.
To my wife who is the wind beneath my wings, I love you.
I thank God for you.
Kaya naman ang pera mo, pera mo. Ang pera ko, pera mo rin. ♥️
Mauna na akong babati: HAPPY VALENTINE’S Mrs. Meriam Santiago Abueva. Let us cheer for the 14 wonderful years of being together.”
