Sometimes a very sad situation brings out the good in people. Don’t you think so, too?
On the second week of February, a video of a very distraught man went viral online. It showed a man wearing an orange shirt crying so hard in frustration over a very unfortunate incident.

Apparently, the man from Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, was scammed by a bogus online seller who tricked him into buying a camera which he could use in taking awesome photos.
According to Christian Baran, a part-time photographer, a seller sent him photos and a receipt pertaining to a camera which he dreams of having. He was given an Odette story as to why the camera was being sold. Christian was wary at the beginning but further exchange of messages and some proof somehow convinced him it was a legit offer.

He then immediately set out to get a loan to complete the P46,000 for this and sent the seller his payment. However, after sending his payment he was immediately blocked on social media by the seller and the latter even removed their exchange of messages.
It was then that he cried his heart out; utterly shocked and infuriated that he had been duped into believing it was a legit transaction.
After making effort to expose the scammer, other netizens who supposedly got victimized too by the same seller stepped forward. Same tactic and same photos were also sent to them.
When Christian’s story spread online, there were netizens who gave him financial help so he could pay off his loan and perhaps buy a real camera this time.
Then what was also surprising was that someone gave him a DSLR camera out of the goodness of one’s heart! In another post, he expressed his gratefulness that despite his misfortune, great things happened.
In gratitude he shared an unboxing video of the amazing gift – his own camera!
He captioned his video with “THANK YOU LORD LAI WALA NIMO GIPASAGDAN AKONG KUYA! SALAMAT LORD! SA TANAN GRASYA NA IMONG GIHATAG, OG SA MGA TAONG IMONG GIGAMIT ARON KAMI MATABANGAN! SALAMAT POD SIR DAX CORDOVA FROM DUMAGUETE SA PAGKA MAAUNG TAO NIMO! ANG GINOO NA MAHIBALO SA IMONG PAGKA MAAU SIR! #GOODISGOOD!”
The details of his story was later on featured on Reporter’s Notebook via GMA Network and shared via YouTube:
Meanwhile, investigation by the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Region 10 continues regarding the incident. The public is warned not to easily trust sellers online to avoid being victimized.
