While coffee shops can be a safe space for those who want a quick break or some quiet “me time” even in the middle of the night, there are people who like to ruin someone’s day or take advantage of vulnerabilities—and these hangout places are not spare from their presence. And this might be the reason why a Starbucks barista recently made a move to protect a teenager from an uncomfortable situation.

On Facebook, Brandy Selim Roberson shared how grateful she is to the Starbucks crew of a nearby branch for protecting her teenage daughter from a possible awkward or uncomfortable situation.
“My 18-year-old daughter was at Starbucks, alone, the other night. A man came up to her and started talking to her. A barista handed her ‘an extra hot chocolate someone forgot to pick up.’ How grateful I am for people who look out for other people!” she shared.
“Are you okay? Do you want us to intervene? If you do, take the lid off the cup,” read the note written on the cup of hot chocolate.
Thankfully, according to Brandy, her daughter felt safe that night and decided not to remove the lid anymore. She, on the other hand, was really grateful to the baristas who tried to help her in making her way out of an uncomfortable conversation.
“Side note: She felt safe and did not remove the lid, but let them know. She said the whole team was watching over her the rest of the time she was there. Thank you to the team at Starbucks on Staples and SPID in Corpus Christi.

A lot of social media users commented on the photo of the cup with a note; which already has more than 76,000 reactions and over 60,000 shares.
