Ayon sa First Gen Corp noong Miyerkules, Marso 23, sinusubukan nito ang isang integrated electric vehicle project na may solar-powered charging station.
Ang “GreenWheels Project” ay unang gagamitin sa First Gen Clean Energy Complex sa Batangas City, ayon sa Lopez-led firm.
Isang Nissan LEAF electric car ang ginamit para sa test run, anila. Naiiwasan ng sasakyan ang halos 3 tonelada ng carbon emissions bawat taon kung ito ay ginagamit sa average na 50 kilometro bawat araw kumpara sa isang tradisyunal na sasakyan na gumagamit ng fossil fuel, sinabi ng kumpanya.
Ito ay may saklaw na hanggang 311 km in one full charge, sabi ng First Gen.
Ang “extremely fast” na charging station para sa proyekto ay pinapagana ng solar energy. Maaari nitong paganahin ang isang EV na baterya hanggang 80 porsiyento sa loob ng 40 minuto, sabi ng First Gen.
“EVs do not spew CO2 and other pollutants into the atmosphere, and these vehicles’ increasing popularity now expands their role in reducing emissions from the transport sector,” pahayag ni First Gen President Francis Giles Puno.
“By utilizing a solar-powered charging station, even the power used to charge the EVs becomes clean. This further optimizes and enhances the role of EVs in cutting down CO2 emissions and mitigating climate change,” dagdag pa nito.
Ayon kay Puno, kung mapatutunayan sa pilot testing na isa itong ‘viable model’ para mapababa ang emissions, maaari itong ireplicate at mas mapalawak pa ng First Gen sa iba pang mga site nito.
“First Gen and other Lopez Group companies recognize that eliminating the source of massive CO2 emissions in the transport sector is crucial in the campaign to mitigate climate change,” pahayag nito.
“As part, therefore, of our mission to forge collaborative pathways for a decarbonized and regenerative future, we are pilot-testing the GreenWheels Project to understand its potential in reducing our carbon footprint and evaluate the feasibility later of developing it,” anito.
