Ang pambato ng Pilipinas na si Kathleen Paton ay nagwagi at kinoronahan bilang Miss Eco International 2022.
Tinalo ni Kathleen ang halos 50 kandidata sa grand coronation night na ginanap sa Egypt noong Huwebes Marso 17, (Biyernes ng umaga, March 18, sa Pilipinas).
Si Kathleen ang ikalawang Pilipinang Miss Eco International, na unang napanalunan ni Cynthia Thomalla noong 2018.
Sa kanyang grace, elegance, beauty, at intelligence ay nakapasok si Kathleen sa Top 21, at pagkatapos ay sa Top 10, at sa wakas ay sa Top 5.
Nang tanungin siya tungkol sa polusyon sa tubig sa Q&A sa Top 10, hinarap at sinagot ni Kathleen kung paanong problema ng mga Pilipino ang pag-access sa malinis at inuming tubig.
“Water pollution is a huge issue in the Philippines. A lot of Filipinos actually don’t have access to clean drinking water, and I believe it is a right for every single human being, especially to my Filipinos to have access to clean water. I aim to work with a company called 100 for all to give free access to water through giving out free water filtration systems not just to families but to whole communities,” sagot ni Kathleen.
Sa top 5 Q&A na sumunod na tanong ay, “As a title holder, you’re a public figure. Do you think it’s important to stay neutral on controversial social issues or to use your title to promote your own belief and why?”
Ang kanyang sagot na nagwagi, “It’s a very tough question because we are at the forefront of opinions and negativity every single day, especially on social media. I do believe as a leader and as someone who is very influential in society, we sometimes have to use our voice in a very neutral state of mind because we have a very influential position. But in doing, we also have to use our voice in order to motivate other people to stand up for what is right and I think that takes a lot of good moral compass.”
First runner-up sa Miss Eco International 2022 ang kandidata mula sa Belgium, second-runner-up ang USA, third runner-up ang Spain, at fourth runner-up ang Malaysia.
Ang mga nakapasok naman sa Top 21 ay Panama, Myanmar, Canada, Finland, Netherlands, South Africa, Brazil, Egypt, Venezuela, Nigeria, Mexico, Indonesia, Nepal, Montenegro, Costa Rica, at Aruba.
