Mistula na ring gumawa ng kasaysayan ang dalawang magkaribal na media outlets sa bansa matapos ang anunsiyong mapapanood na ang mga pelikula ng Star Cinema sa GMA 7.
Ayon sa ABS-CBN News nitong Martes, Abril 5, nagkasundo na ang dalawang higanteng istasyon na ipalabas ang mga pelikula ng ABS-CBN Film Productions Inc. sa Kapuso network.
Ang paglagda ng naturang kontrata ay dinaluhan umano ng mga bigwigs mismo ng ABS-CBN at GMA.
Sa panig ng GMA Network, dumalo sa virtual contract signing sina President at COO Gilberto Duavit, Jr; Executive Vice President and CFO Felipe Yalong; at si GMA Network Films, Inc. President and Programming Consultant to the Chairman at CEO Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes, at iba pa.
Para naman sa ABS-CBN, dumalo sina Chairman Mark Lopez; President and CEO Carlo Katigbak; COO for Broadcast Cory Vidanes; Group CFO Ricardo Tan, Jr.; Managing Director ng ABS-CBN Films Productions na si Direk Olivia Lamasan; at iba pang executives.
Sa isang pahayag sinabi ni ABS-CBN CEO Carlo Katigbak na isa itong mahalagang ‘milestone’ at “every storyteller’s dream.”
“Every storyteller’s dream is to have as many people as possible experience their creations. Now, because of the kindness of our friends at GMA, we have the special opportunity to bring our Kapamilya stories to a new audience,” ani Katigbak.
Ayon naman kay Duavit, ang kasunduang ito ay maaaring magbukas pa ng maraming posibilidad sa hinaharap tulad ng partnership at kooperasyon sa pagitan ng ABS-CBN at GMA para na rin sa kapakanan ng mga Pilipinong manonood.
“Looking forward, since we have as they say, broken the ice, there is great optimism that these conversations will start and continue. And we look forward to the possibility of this type of an opportunity again moving forward,” pahayag ng COO ng GMA.
