As the wrath of Typhoon Agaton continues to affect a lot of people in different parts of Visayas, some social media users expressed alarm over the situation of animals in these provinces.
On Twitter, @donnybelindax uploaded photos posted by different people online where animals are seen suffering; getting soaked in the rain and feeling cold.
“Iloilo, Leyte, and other places are suffering right now from the flood (Facebook pics not mine). Other than all the people, there are also dogs, cats, and other animals on the street,” the Twitter user wrote; opening the eyes of other netizens, as well, that not only humans are currently affected by the typhoon.

With this, others agreed on the tweet; saying that people should also take care of animals amid calamities, whether they are their pets or they are strays roaming around the area without any place to stay.
Typhoon Agaton and Typhoon Basyang
While Typhoon Agaton remains within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), another Typhoon has entered the PAR on Tuesday, April 12. Tropical cyclone “Malakas” has intensified from a severe tropical storm into a typhoon and was given the local name Basyang; officially the country’s second tropical cyclone for 2022.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) disclosed that Basyang was located 1,435 kilometers east of Southern Luzon, moving north northwest at 20 kilometers per hour (km/h). It is expected to reach a peak intensity of 150 km/h on Wednesday morning, April 13, and will only stay near the PAR boundary. Thus, it is not seen to directly affect the weather in country.
Still, the PAGASA warned that swells resulting from Basyang could cause moderate to rough seas in the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon and the eastern seaboards of the Visayas and Mindanao and conditions may be risky for small vessels.
