Atty. Chel Diokno shared his thoughts on netizens comparing him with fellow senatorial aspirant Robin Padilla.
“Nahihiya po ako kay sir Robin Padilla na kami’y pinagsasabong ng mga netizen,” Atty. Chel said in a Facebook post.
He jokingly admitted that when it comes to appeal, Robin indeed wins.
“Pagdating sa appeal, totoong milya-milya ang lamang niya sa akin. Masakit lang pala ‘pag may nagsasabing hindi nila ako iboboto dahil hindi ako kasing pogi… kahit aminado naman ako na totoo ito,” he quipped.
However, he said that he understands that voters have to put candidates side by side as part of their decision-making.
“Hindi natin maaalis sa mga botante ang paghambingin nila ang kakayahan at track record ng mga kandidato. Bahagi ito ng proseso ng pagpili kung sino sa tingin nila karapat-dapat sa kanilang boto.”
The human rights lawyer added that he is sure whoever it is that the people elects in power, they only have one goal: “lahat tayo ay nagkakaisa sa layuning magkaroon ng tapat, makatarungan, at makataong gobyerno para sa lahat ng Pilipino.”
Atty. Chel joined Vice President Leni Robredo and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan’s slate during the Miting de Avance held in Makati on May 7.
In a separate Facebook post, he expressed his gratitude to everybody who supported him throughout the campaign.
“Ibang klaseng pagmamahal ang nakita ko sa kampanyang ito. I can’t help but be grateful sa lahat ng sumuporta sa amin bago pa man ako nagdeklara ng aking pagtakbo hanggang sa ngayon,” Atty. Chel said.
