Senator Imee Marcos has jokingly appointed herself as President-elect Bongbong Marcos’ SAP; not an equal to Sen. Bong Go’s previous position as ‘Special Assistant to the President’ but rather ‘Super Ate ng Pangulo’.
“’Super Ate ng Pangulo,’ I am the SAP, if President Duterte has SAP Bong Go, I’m the self-appointed SAP of Bongbong,” Imee said during an interview with dzBB.
The real SAP title, however ,will go to Anton Lagdameo Jr. whom Bongbong has recently appointed.
The incoming president said Lagdameo is a close, personal friend with whom he has been working with for the past 10 years.
Imee admitted that it would be an advantage for his brother to have her as a member of the Senate as well as an elder sister at the Upper House as this would ‘smoothen the process of introducing new legislation.’

“Of course, a little whispering helps, so that we can speed up bills that are absolutely necessary and at the same time improve the measures,” the senator explained.
As for the Senate presidency, Imee believes whoever should be elected must come from the UniTeam, the senatorial slate fielded by her brother and vice president-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio.
She is hoping to form a majority bloc of 13 senators from whom they can rely solid votes for the incoming administration’s legislative agenda.
“Dapat ganoon sana kasi sa dami ng problema natin dapat mabilis tayo at malakas ang dating ng mga batas na kinakailangan natin,” Imee said.
Of the winning UniTeam senators, incumbent Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri is one who is reportedly eyeing the Senate presidency.
Zubiri is likely to face Senator Cynthia Villar, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, and Senator-elect Francis Escudero as all the three lawmakers are said to be also vying for the top post.
Imee, for herself, earlier admitted she has no interest in seeking the Senate presidency or any legislative position ‘out of delicadeza’ since her brother will be sitting as the chief executive in Malacanang.
