Labor leader and senatorial hopeful Atty. Luke Espiritu got an unexpected endorsement from no less than the Megastar herself, Sharon Cuneta.
During the Robredo-Pangilinan tandem’s ‘miting de avance’ in Naga City last Friday, May 6, Sharon urges Bicolano supporters to vote for the ‘Tropang Angat’ team which include senators Leila de Lima, Antonio Trillanes, Dick Gordon, and Risa Hontiveros, and Gov. Chiz Escudero, among others.
But aside from those included in Robredo’s slate, the veteran actress-singer also endorsesd Atty. Luke Espiritu who is running under Leody De Guzman’s Partido Lakas Masa (PLM) as senator.
“Ni hindi ko pa ito nami-meet in person pero napanood ko ito sa senatorial debate at alam ko ang kaniyang background, nag-research ako,” Sharon told the crowd.
“Atty. Luke Espiritu, you have may vote, sir!” she declared.
Espiritu became a trending topic on social media after he figured in a heated exchange against fellow senatoriables Atty. Lary Gadon and Atty. Harry Roque during the SMNI debate last March.

At one point during the debate, Espiritu scolded Gadon for frequently interrupting his rebuttal while it is still within the allotted time.
“It’s my time, huwag kang bastos! It’s my time!” Espiritu rebuked Gadon.
He also admonished Roque for being a human rights lawyer and an anti-Marcos before to ‘crying hallelujah and praising Marcos’ now after being given a spot in BBM’s lineup.
Meanwhile, Espiritu extended his gratitude to the Megastar for the endorsement.
“Lubos na nagpapasalamat ang Team Luke Espiritu sa pagsuporta ng nag-iisang Megastar sa ating kandidatura. Pandayin ang ating pagkakaisa sa ground laban sa mga sinungaling, mandarambong, at diktador,” he wrote on Facebook.
Aside from Espiritu, Sharon also endorsed Neri Colmenares of the Makabayan bloc who is on his second Senate bid after a failed attempt in 2019.
On Monday, Filipinos will be electing 12 senators to serve in the 19th Congress.
