Lines were long at the different polling precincts in the country as millions of Filipinos went out to cast their vote during the 2022 National and Local Elections.
This is why even if she did not want to, Dra. Vicki Belo had to admit that she is already a senior citizen so she would not have to wait for hours to vote.
“Hi, everyone. I’m about to go to work but I thought I’d share a story with you guys about what happened to me during election day. It’s just a light story because the mood is a bit heavy,” she narrated in an Instagram video.
“So, last Monday when I went to vote, I was with Hayden, Quark, Bianca, and Atom. When we got there, ang haba ng line, grabe. So for the first time, kahit ayokong aminin, umamin na po ako na senior na po ako kasi I saw the line in the seniors, medyo short.”
While waiting, Vicki heard someone complain that she thought the lane was for senior citizens only.
“Bigla na lang narinig ko from the back may medyo galit. Sabi niya, ‘Akala ko ba pang senior lang tong area na ‘to bakit nandiyan ‘yan?” she recounted.
She said she did not know if she should be mad or happy when she heard the comment. “Because she didn’t think I was a senior. And so I guess I am happy. Thank you very much. It’s the best compliment I’ve ever received ‘cause it’s so genuine.”
Celebrities and netizens complimented Vicki saying that she indeed aged gracefully.
“You aged beautifully doctora! Being a senior is not an insult, rather a compliment. My mum loves her senior moments lalo na yung special treatments. She feels like a queen,” one netizen commented.
In an old interview, Vicki said she does not want her daughter Scarlet Snow to know her real age.
“She’s so fearful. She always asks me, ‘Mom, how old are you? How old are you?’ I couldn’t understand why she used to make me repeat, Then I realized she’s scared of me dying because I’m old. I will lie now. I have to say I’m 55. So, guys, please, when you talk to Scarlet, Mommy is 55.”
