Ai-Ai unaffected by ‘persona non grata’ tag; Darryl Yap to ‘issue official statement’

AiAi Delas Alas seemed unaffected by the recent declaration of the Quezon City government tagging her and controversial director Darryl Yap as ‘persona non grata’ in a resolution approved by the council on Tuesday.

The resolution stemmed from Yap’s short video posted on his ‘Vincentiments’ Facebook page featuring Delas Alas as ‘Ligaya Delmonte’; a character whose name is an apparent play on incumbent QC Mayor Joy Belmonte’s.

The video was a campaign material supporting Rep. Mike Defensor who eventually lost to Belmonte in the recently-concluded mayoralty race.

It also showed the QC government official seal edited and being replaced by the names ‘BBM’ and ‘Sara’, referring to Marcos and Duterte-Carpio whose candidacies were supported by Defensor.

“The malicious and unscrupulous defacing of the official seal of Quezon City ridiculed and casted dishonor to it, causing insult to the noble representation of the seal,” said a statement from Councilor Ivy Lagman who filed the resolution.

“The people of Quezon City will not let anyone disgrace the official seal of Quezon City for personal and selfish interests,” the official added.

AiAi unaffected

AiAi, who is currently enjoying her vacation in the US, appears to be unbothered by QC’s ‘persona non grata’ tag.

On her latest Instagram post, the comedienne shared a video showing her dancing and savoring the moment.

“Bakit ako lumapit??? Hindi ko marinig ang music haha .. laban lang sa lamig pero mas bumilib ako sa mga tao sa likod ko sa baba nag si swimming sa gabing napakalamig .. pero ang ganda sa video no …actually pati sa picture maganda sya,” her caption read.

It came with the caption #happywifehappylife #stamonica #goodvibes #losangeles #enjoylife and does not mention anything about the resolution.

Darryl to release statement

Darryl Yap, for his part, said he will release a statement addressing the issue.

“Bagamat ang deklarasyong “PERSONA NON GRATA ay isang Resolusyon at hindi Ordinansa; walang kaakibat na batas— hindi po natin ito babale-walain; bibigyan natin ito ng pansin,” he wrote on Facebook.

The same video which became the subject of the resolution has also been reuploaded on Vincentiment just hours after news of the ‘persona non grata’ resolution was disclosed to the public.
