Sen. Imee Marcos apologizes to Karen Davila after viral remark

Broadcast journalist Karen Davila said Sen. Imee Marcos sent her an apology after joking about her still being in the Philippines after President-elect Bongbong Marcos won.

At the beginning of Karen’s interview with Sen. Imee during ANC’s Headstart, the lawmaker said “Good morning, Karen. It’s nice to see you’re still here in the Philippines. Akala ko magma-migrate ka kapag nanalo ang Marcos.”

To which, the anchor said “Hoping always for the best for the country.”

“Thank you very much. We need that. Uniteam,” the senator responded.

This portion of the interview made rounds online, but Karen said all is good between her and the senator. Karen reshared the video of the exchange, saying that some are maliciously posting it without showing her response.

“Napikon po ba ako? Hindi po. Sen. Imee Marcos also sent me an apology by text after the show. All good. Salamat!” she said.

Meanwhile, she also shared portions of the “more important discussions” with Sen. Imee — one of which tackles historical revisionism.

The senator denied that they will make efforts to revise history. Instead, they will only share what they know.

“I don’t think that’s our effort at all, we will not revise anything, all we we will do is to also make known, make public what we know our side of the story which we have perhaps been remiss in not telling simply because we were scared of the traditional media, of all the abuse, diatribe, the insult,” she explained.

Former Sen. Bongbong Marcos has been proclaimed the duly-elected 17th President of the Philippines before Congress.

“I ask you all, pray for me, wish me well. I want to do well because when a president does well, the country does well. And I want to do well for this country,” he said.
