Actor turned politician Robin Padilla became emotional as he realized the weight of the sacrifices he has to make as a public servant.
In a Facebook post, the senator-elect said that he slept hugging the Father’s Day card his daughter Isabella made for him.
“Bismillah. Panginoong Maylikha. natulog po ako yakap ko ang love letter ng anak ko @mariaisabelladepadilla. Miss na miss ko mga anak ko,” he said; adding that not hearing their laughter made him tear up.
“Naluluha po ako hindi ko na naririnig ang kanilang mga hagikgik at tawa. Mga kaligayahang magulang lamang po nila ang kanilang mundo. Bawat araw na dumadaan napapalayo po sila sa akin,” Robin also said.
“Napakalaking sakripisyo po ang maging lingkodbayan. Mundo ko po ang kapalit para sa mundo ng nakararami. Change has to come sooner,” he added.
Robin also said that now, he can no longer enjoy the luxury of sleep and me time.
“Me time no more. Longest 3 hours sleep. No relaxation. No more streaming, no more TV. Missing the news and docus,” Robin shared.
He also asked for strength and good health as he realized that politics is not as glamorous as showbusiness.
“May Allah give me more strength and good health. Lahat po ng masama sa katawan nandito sa mundo na pinasok ko. Wala pong masarap dito. Wala pong ilalaki ng ulo dito. Napakalayo po sa mundo ng showbiz,” Robin stated.
“How can it be elegant when 80 percent of your people are living in crisis. Battle of intentions po ito hindi po ng utak.”
He also expressed hope for the country.
“Tanging rebolusyonaryong pagbabago po ang makapagpapabago sa buhay ng mas nakararaming Pilipino. Let us do it for our children. Let us do it for our motherland. Let us have the will to change the system and form of our government,” he said.
“Puede naman po mas bumilis ang lahat. Puede po maging mas malapit ang gobyerno sa tao.”
To note, he topped the 2022 senatorial race on his first senate run. Much is expected of him.
