SHS students, “Show us your passion for writing!”
The office of Senator Alan Peter Cayetano has launched an essay writing contest for Senior High School students wherein winning students will get P10,000 each as prize.
The announcement was made by Sen Cayetano via his Facebook page in a post shared on July 20, 2022. A number of infographics was uploaded to support the call for entries.
In the Senator’s Facebook post, Cayetano called the attention of SHS essayists:
“ATTENTION ALL SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL ESSAYISTS!”
“Show us your passion for writing!”
“The office of Senator Alan Peter Cayetano invites you to join its Essay Writing Contest, open to all Senior High School Students in both public and private schools.”
“Participants are asked to write a 750-word essay answering the question: Kung ikaw ang Pangulo ng bansa at magbibigay ng SONA, ano ang ipaaabot mo sa mga kababayan mo?”
“There are two categories, English and Filipino, but a candidate is only allowed to submit one entry.”
“Please submit your entries on or before July 25, 2022 at 12:00PM.”
“The best essayists from each category will receive a cash prize of ₱10,000. See the full contest mechanics and details in the upcoming posts. May GOD bless you all!”
Viral 10K Ayuda
To note, Sen. Cayetano trended on social media after netizens made memes of his promise to push for ₱10K ayuda or cash assistance for every Filipino family in need of support during this pandemic.
On July 1, 2022, he said he will immediately file the bill regarding the one-time P10,000 cash assistance to families in this time of the pandemic. The senator lobbied for the P10K Ayuda Bill when he was Taguig congressman, however, it was not included in the Bayanihan 3 COVID-19 aid package.
In an earlier report aired by GMA news, he said, “Sa mga nagbabash sa 10k ayuda, kung kaya ko lang silang bigyan ng tag-sampung libo, binigay ko na sa kanila. Pero sa katotohanan ito’y isang legislative proposal.”
“So ang hinihingi ko po doon sa mga tumutuligsa sa programang Sampung Libong (Pag-asa) during the pandemic, tumulong na lang kayo,” he added.
Meanwhile, in a very recent FB Live, Cayetano shared a video with special guest Senator Pia Cayetano as they talk about the “Sampung Libong Pag-asa”.
