Daughter of late former Lamitan mayor begs: ‘Let my family mourn in peace’

The daughter of the late Lamitan Mayor Rose Furigay requested the public to allow her family to grieve the loss of her mother.

In a statement posted on Instagram, Kelsey Furigay denied that her family was involved in the shooting of the father of suspect Dr. Chao Tiao Yumol.

“When I heard the news, I cried. Nobody, not a soul, deserves to be shot to death like that. No human has a right to take another. What did his father do to us? Nothing. It is his son’s actions and not his. We do not want any more lives wasted because of this,” Kelsey said.

She added that her dad even immediately called on the authorities to thoroughly investigate the case.

“We do NOT condone violence and killing. We beg the people & the country… NO MORE. With everything going on, we need to unite and work together, not hate each other,” she also said.

“We do not feel justice. We only feel pain and grief for all of these killings. Once the perpetrator will be found, we will ALSO help bring justice… The truth will always prevail.”

She also begged the public to give her family a chance to grieve. “Please, we are in mourning. We do not have it in our hearts to think of revenge because the pain is just too grave. Please I am begging on my knees.. To the public as a daughter, as a sister, as a fellow Filipino citizen, NO MORE LIVES SHED and no more violence. Let my family mourn in peace.”

Kelsey also spoke up on what she said is misinformation against her late mom. She posted documents showing that the Furigays are cleared of involvement in drugs.

“The FURIGAYS are cleared by PDEA and are not involved in the drug trade. For YUMOL, it was personal, as his clinic was ordered to be shut down by BARMM.”

Dr. Yumol is the suspect in the Ateneo shooting incident that took away the life of the former mayor, Victor Capistrano, and security guard Jeneven Bandiala.
