Even before he became famous as a an actor, James Reid apparently was already some sort of a celebrity when he was still studying in a Makati school.
Unfortunately, this was also the reason why he decided to stop coming to school because of the unwanted attention he got from fellow students.
In an interview on Fun with Dumb, James revealed he only lasted for a month in that school before eventually quitting and changed to home schooling.
Born and raised in Australia, the Kapamilya actor moved to the Philippines when he was 16 years old with his mom and went to Makati Science High School.
“When I first went there, I was 16, to go to school, it lasted like a month,” he shared. “After a month, I was like I can’t do this anymore.”

When asked whether he was bullied, James replied, “It’s not even bullying. I just felt awkward by it because some kids would like take photos of me in the classroom and sell it to other kids.”
“Every time I come to school, people would like, scream. And I was like, you know what I don’t think I can do this,” he added.
Didn’t have an audition with PBB
Another thing James shared is that he didn’t go through a normal audition with Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) where he was proclaimed the eventual winner in the 2010 Teen Clash Edition.

He said a guy approached him when he was walking down the street one night and gave him a card. The same guy popped up again the next night while he was eating at a restaurant with his dad to convince them both to go to ABS-CBN.
It was there where he met the director who put him in PBB.
“And then, I met a director, he was like, ‘I like this guy. Let’s put him on this show.’ I was like, ‘What’s the show?”, ‘It’s Big Brother.’ So within a couple of days, I was inside the house already. I didn’t have to do an audition,” James recalled.

James’ career took off after his stint at PBB and he was paired as a love team with his former girlfriend, Nadine Lustre.
